Nestled in the hills of northern Taranaki, Te Kainga o ngā Wairere is a 202-hectare working farm with a quiet secret — it is what the ancient Celts called a thin place. Somewhere the noise of the world softens, and something deeper becomes easier to hear.

Purchased in 1981 and shaped by decades of family life, this land has grown into something beyond a farm. Visitors speak of an unusual stillness here. A sense of being held. Many have come seeking rest and left with something they weren’t expecting.

We don’t run programmes or retreats in the conventional sense. What we offer is space — to breathe, to reflect, and to reconnect. Our Christian faith shapes everything about how we welcome guests, and we ask visitors simply to respect that as part of the experience.
